Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Holly Berry was rescued out of the 5th ward area of Houston, which is a very rough area of town for stray dogs. Residents say she had been on the streets for quite some time and had even had a litter of puppies at one time. Her foster mom happened to see her running the streets and with the help of some residents she was able to be caught. Holly is wonderful with all dogs, doesn't mind cats, and is great with gentle children. She walks well on a leash, is crate trained, and has been one of her foster's moms favorite fosters, in part, because she is very low maintenance. Holly will need some time to adjust to her new home as she can be ... (Read More)shy at first, so she's available to have a trial period to allow her true personality to come out. Having a another dog in the home would definitely be a positive for Holly since she enjoys the company of other dogs so much. The adoption fee is $150. This includes vaccinations, spay/neuter and microchipping for all dogs. If you are interested in adoption, please email lifetimek9@hotmail.com to receive an application. Thank you! (Less)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Needs to be Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Robbie is a cute scruffy pup and though he has only been with us for a short time he's shown us he's a very friendly pup once he knows you. He follows me everywhere and he loves to show off his cute little dance. He does tend to bark at new comers but quiets quickly after being introduced. Robbie seems to be potty trained after a short few days of acclimation in our home. He sleeps through the night in a crate in our room. He did fuss for a bit for a couple of nights but now settles down when the lights go out. Please come visit Robbie at the adoption center. He'd love to have a family and forever home in time for Valentines day. Male ... Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello, I'm Shania. I'm 2 years old and weigh around 50 pounds. You might think that I have a confident look about me, but don't let that fool you. I came from a place that was scary and people did not always treat me with kindness, so forgive me if it takes some time for me to trust. You see, I was living on the streets near a flea market when a volunteer with Corridor Rescue saw me and knew I was in danger of not surviving much longer. Today I feel and look healthy. It took some work and patience from my foster family to bond with me and gain my trust, but within a few weeks I was fully integrated and I couldn't be happier! If you ... (Read More)have a friendly dog I can play with, it will help me transition to a new home. I prefer being around dogs my size. My foster siblings are great, they share their toys with me and wrestle with me. I love wrestling and squirming on my back. I also like to play by myself with toys from the toy basket and can be independent. When my foster parents are at work I have to stay in a kennel, but that's ok. They give me a treat every time I get inside, so it's worth it. I need some more training before I can stay in the house loose. When my foster parents come home from work, I am happy to see them. They let me outside where I smile at them and say hello to the other doggies. The dog walker has told my foster parents over the last week that I'm warming up to him and I am trusting enough to show how I play around him. Initially I stayed away from him, but he also has those yummy treats so I decided he's cool. I'm a big girl and who doesn't love tall girls? I'm what you would call 'athletic' but without being much of an athlete. I also like walking with my pack. I'm pretty good on a leash even though I never had one before I was rescued. Please use a soft voice with me and be prepared if something scares me, I will try to hide and cower, so keep a good grip on the leash. I just need some time and that only happens once in a while. I love meal time. Where I came from I had to find my own meals and they were often not very tasty. I am still getting used to having prepared meals. I can't even describe the sheer deliciousness of those little brown nuggets of tasty treats, not once but twice a day. Can you believe it?! I give my foster parents some twirls and a smile before they put the heavenly bowl down by my crate. I'm not proud of this, but I stuff my face like it's Thanksgiving day, every single time. Want to hear something funny? I have a foster brother named Sarge and he was rescued by the same people who helped me. Well, Sarge is now a permanent part of my foster family, and he has the same scruffy dog look as me. We both love our wiry hair, and sometimes when my foster mom pets Sarge, his hair is standing straight up in the middle of his head and sometimes it goes down his back! It looks so funny, and I have heard the word "Mohawk" a few times. The other day I was getting big pet and noticed this strange sensation on my head and neck. And guess what, I had a Mohawk just like Sarge! I don't know any tricks yet. Sometimes when the Dingo Sticks come out that jar on the counter, my foster siblings do funny tricks and get treats. I haven't figured out what they are doing to get served first but I'll figure it out. In the meantime I still get my Dingo Stick. I'm proud to say that I'm pretty much crate and house trained and walk well on leash. My foster mom is very pleased with me and said I'm a quick learner. I'm still shy around strangers, I just need some time to warm up to you. My favorite past time is playing with toys, wrestling with my foster brothers and chewing my treats for being a good girl. **Shania is with Corridor Rescue in Houston, Texas. In February 2017 she will be available for transport to most major US and Canadian cities via United Airlines PetSafe for an additional $275. A customs fee may apply at Canadian airports. Ground transportation to Colorado is available for $75, and several locations in the northeastern US for $175. We are a street dog rescue in Houston, Texas seeking to place rescued dogs in loving homes across the US and Canada. Our region has more homeless animals than homes, so we look outside of our area for adopters. The adoption fee of $200 covers spay, microchip and current vaccines.     He has a high energy level so he needs an active family who will take him on long walks. He is great with female dogs and some male dogs. He does take some time to get to know his caretaker and any strangers he comes across so he would do best in a home with few visitors and no children as well. Once he gets to know you and trust you, he enjoys watching tv on the couch, being held like a baby, going for walks and getting loved on.

We have LOTS of precious fur babies available for adoption, please come meet them at the Addison PetSmart - 3800 Belt Line, Addison, 75001 - every Saturday from 1-8 and every Sunday from 1-5. WE NEED FOSTER HOMES FOR ANIMALS! Fosters are the backbone of animal rescue. In most EVERY shelter - in most EVERY county - in most EVERY city - animals r being euthanized (KILLED) daily due to overcrowding - dog - cat - large - small - male - female - puppy - kitten - old - young. We cannot save them without foster homes. APPROXIMATELY ONE OUT OF THREE ANIMALS THAT ENTER A SHELTER IS EUTHANIZED. These healthy sweet pets would have made great ... (Read More)companions. Don't know what fostering is? Briefly - it is babysitting an animal until it is adopted. FOSTERING IS FREE TO DO! Most rescues cover all expenses for fosters, and anything they do not cover is tax-deductible. If u cannot foster - please ask your friends and family to. If u want more information - Google 'animal fostering.' I'm begging - it's only temporary but lives can't be saved unless people step up - PLEASE - shelters are overflowing - when you foster one animal - you save two lives - the one you foster and the one that gets his/her space in the shelter. If you can/will foster - let me know, I thank you - and the animals thank you! PS - Have you ever dreamed of helping a rescue but don't have the time, space, or just plain don't know what to do? At your pet limit? Allergic? Can't have pets where you live? Well - how about becoming a VIRTUAL FOSTER... You can choose a minimum amount of $10 a month to 'virtually' foster a homeless animal of your choice (of course, a larger sum would be happily accepted and appreciated). What does Virtual Foster mean? Our foster fur babies typically have many veterinary bills, as this is the nature of being rescued. There are also other expenses related to the ongoing care and rehab of fosters. As a Virtual Foster, your donation will go towards the vetting - medical care, and general care of the animal you have chosen. Your donation will go a LONG way in ensuring a foster dog receives the needed care and attention! In return for your kind donation, you will receive a periodic update on the progress of your foster. Once your foster is adopted, you will be notified so that you can choose another animal to foster. If you genuinely cannot foster, there are still other ways to help. Drive for transports, evaluate dogs in your local animal shelter, or take pictures of their available animals. (Less)

Caleb is a 1 year old Schnauzer mix that was found left in a park with no fur whatsoever. In fact we had no idea what breed he was. He has fully recovered and is doing great in his foster home. He has a strong, independent personality that goes with the Schnauzer breed. His foster has worked hard to socialize him and work on his basic manners. He does well with most dogs but gets insecure at times. He would do great as an only dog or one he approves of. He does really well with people but would not recommend he go to a home with small children. He would be a great city dog that would do well in an apartment or small area.

PIease Read Before Adopting a Schnauzer in Texas
Schnauzer Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Schnauzer is a thickly bearded, medium sized, Terrier type dog. Schnauzers are proud, vivacious animals. Schnauzers are protective toward their people and want to be the boss. It is important to thoroughly socialize and train a Schnauzer when it is a puppy. Schnauzers do fine with older kids. A Schnauzer needs lots and lots of exercise and a daily walk but can live in an apartment if its exercise needs are met.
