Rescue Me ID: 17-09-24-00003Pixel the Schnauzer (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs
Personality: High Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

PIXEL is a cute little male schnauzer! He is a young guy with lots of energy and wants to play. He was in a rural shelter and we were told he is about nine months old. He is very puppy'ish in his actions and silly ways - always wants to play or chew on finger. our vet estimates him to be about two years so our guess is he is somewhere between those two. He is very playful and silly. Pixel is white and has a docked tail. He weighs 8.9 pounds and has been neutered, current on vaccines, dewormed, and tested for heartworms. WE ARE IN ABILENE, TEXAS. WE DO NOT SHIP OR TRANSPORT OUR PETS, WE REQUIRE ADOPTERS MEET THE DOG TO MAKE SURE IT IS A ... (Read More)GOOD FIT. NOTE: We are a rescue, the dogs are in foster homes. WE DO NOT HAVE A FACILITY THAT OPENS TO THE PUBLIC. We require an application BEFORE a potential adopter will be introduced to one of our pets. We contact vets to ensure that pets already in the adoptive home are current on vaccines, heartworm prevention and sterilized. We have gotten to know the pet and our goal is to make the best match, between pet and people. PLEASE be aware, we do not adopt out to a home that has an animal which has not been spayed or neutered. Please email us at adopt@pawedsquad.com to receive an Adoption Application or for more information on our Adoption process. Please take the time to visit our website www.pawedsquad.com for additional information. We represent the pet to the best of our ability, they are rescue dogs and we don't always get their history. Rescue Me ID: 17-09-21-00054Gonzo (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hey there future family! My name is Gonzo and I am one happy pup. Even though things have been rough lately, I've kept my happy and loving puppy attitude. You see this mean man named Harvey came in and destroyed so many things that my family knew they could not care for me. So they made the really hard decision to give me up, knowing that the nice folks at K9 Angels would find me a wonderf ul family. I'm a polite and well behaved pup who craves attention. I love to play with other dogs and even the resident cat (I will win him over with my charms yet!). I'm about a year old so I have lots of energy and love to run in the back yard. I'm just ... (Read More)starting to feel safe and start playing with toys again but I am always ready to cuddle. I really don't like my crate and foster mom wonders if that has to do with the nasty storm and being transported away from home. Anyway, I'm good outside my crate and have not destroyed anything in my foster home. I'm working on my outdoor potties. Foster mom realized that I wasn't pottying outside unless she came with me. You see I'm still a little out of sorts after all that's happened. I just need a little love and reassurance. Oh and I already know 'sit' and 'leave it.' Can you open your heart and home to me? I'm ready to be in a nice stable, safe home again. Gonzo is a Male Schnauzer / maybe Irish Wolfhound Mix that we estimate to be around 1 year old and weighs about 50 lbs. (already neutered and chipped). He has moderate energy. Dog, cat and kid friendly. PUPPIES: Young puppies that have not had their second round of puppy shots will not be at the Adoption Center for our weekend adoption events. If you are interested in adopting a puppy, please fill out an application on our website http://www.k-9angelsrescue.org/k9_angels_rescue_application_to_adopt.html. If your application is approved, a meeting can be arranged. Also, we only adopt young puppies locally due to the 4 month time frame it takes to get them fully vetted and altered. OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS: We do allow out-of-state adoptions for dogs, however, the adopter MUST come to Houston to get the dog and take the dog home with them. We do not allow our dogs to be shipped. Also, our puppies can only be adopted to the immediate Houston vicinity as it takes 4 months to get them completely vetted at our vet here in Houston. We will not allow our dogs/puppies to be adopted out of the area without being spayed/neutered. We spay/neuter puppies at 4 months old. SPAY/NEUTER: As we believe proper healthcare of one's pet is a requirement of good ownership K-9 Angels Rescue only adopts out dogs that have been fully vetted. If the dog being adopted is not already altered at the time of their adoption, the dog will be altered within 2 weeks of adoption at our vet at our cost, with the exception of puppies which will be altered as soon as the puppy is ready. NOTE: All dogs are officially the property of K-9 Angels Rescue until they are altered by our veterinarian. Please LIKE and share our Facebook page: www.facebook.com/k9angelsrescue. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 17-06-30-00346Ninny (female)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Cats, Good with Kids and Adults
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

**SPECIAL NEEDS** Ninny came to K-9 Angels after being found dumped on the side of the road in Houston. Her hair was very thin and almost none existent on her tail and back end but has grown back so well that she just got a precious new haircut. She is hard of hearing and mostly blind, but I believe can see shadows and perks up when I call her name. Her sniffer works REALLY well though. We believe she was used for breeding and got too old and dumped out like trash. She is now spayed though, so no more babies for this girl. She's also Heartworm Negative!! She may be a senior old lady but she gets around just fine and can sniff me from across ... (Read More)the house. She had low thyroid levels so she needs to be on thyroid medicine for the rest of her life which has helped her tremendously and the meds aren't expensive at all. It's given her so much more energy! She had a much needed dental done to remove most of the teeth that she had left. She has 3 left that I like to call her hippo teeth since she reminds me of a hippo whenever she yawns. :) Ninny LOVES puppies as she likes to go up to their puppy pen or crate and just wag her tail a mile a minute and even will try and clean them if she lets them. She has come full circle from when she first came to us and has been the best little house guest which you barely know is there. From wanting to sleep all the time to running and chasing after her foster parents wanting to be held. Its like she's a totally different dog! She's very easy to please and just wants to be where you are and snuggle. She may be an old lady but she's still got lots and lots of love left to give and would make any family happy to have her for what time she has left. I think she's still got some years left in her. Can you open your heart and your home to bring this sweet ol' girl home with you? Come meet her this weekend at our adoption center and you won't be able to say no once you look into her sweet soulful eyes and they melt your heart. (3 Ninny is a Female Miniature Schnauzer Mix that we estimate to be born around 5/1/2005 and weighs 12 lbs. Fosters are the backbone of animal rescue. In most EVERY shelter - in most EVERY county - in most EVERY city - animals are being euthanized (KILLED) daily due to overcrowding - dog - cat - large - small - male - female - puppy - kitten - old - young. We cannot save them without foster homes. APPROXIMATELY ONE OUT OF THREE ANIMALS THAT ENTER A SHELTER IS EUTHANIZED. These healthy sweet pets would have made great companions. Don't know what fostering is? Briefly - it is babysitting an animal until he/she is adopted. FOSTERING IS FREE TO DO! Most rescues cover all expenses for fosters, and anything they do not cover is tax-deductible. If you cannot foster - please ask your friends and family to. If you want more information - Google 'animal fostering.' I'm begging - it's only temporary but lives can't be saved unless people step up - PLEASE - shelters are overflowing - when you foster one animal - you save two lives - the one you foster and the one that gets his/her space in the shelter. If you can/will foster - let me know, I thank you - and the animals thank you! PS - Have you ever dreamed of helping a rescue but don't have the time, space, or just plain don't know what to do? At your pet limit? Allergic? Can't have pets where you live? Well - how about becoming a VIRTUAL FOSTER... You can choose a minimum amount of $10 a month to 'virtually' foster a homeless animal of your choice (of course, a larger sum would be happily accepted and appreciated). What does Virtual Foster mean? Our foster fur babies typically have many veterinary bills, as this is the nature of being rescued. There are also other expenses related to the ongoing care and rehab of fosters. As a Virtual Foster, your donation will go towards the vetting - medical care, and general care of the animal you have chosen. Your donation will go a LONG way in ensuring a foster dog receives the needed care and attention! In return for your kind tax-deductible donation, you will receive a periodic update on the progress of your foster. Once your foster is adopted, you will be notified so that you can choose another animal to virtually foster. If you genuinely cannot adopt or foster, there are still other ways to help. Sponsor an adoption or medical treatment. Volunteer your time - drive for transports, rescue groups always need dogs transported from one place to the next. Donate money, our rescue is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, all donations are tax deductible. Educate - spread the word about the need for fosters. Sign up for notifications from your local rescue group or shelter, and share the animals in need on social media, there are so many ways to help - thank you (Less)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Nola is a spayed four year old schnauzer mix. She was rescued a year ago from a shelter in Louisiana. We know nothing about her background. Her foster mom believes she was mistreated because she was frightened of people when we first rescued her. She could only pet her about three times on the head before she would try and bite. She wouldn't allow her to bet her anywhere else. After many months of showing Nola what love is she will now jump in her foster mom's lap and want to be petted and held. She will also allow our groomer to give her a makeover. She will now let strangers pet her and asks for more love when they stop. Nola has come ... (Read More)a long way in learning to trust but she still can get mad if her foster mom tries to make her do something she doesn't want to do, for example, get out of bed when she isn't ready or take a toy or bone from her. She will bite. Her new mom or dad will have to understand that she can't be forced to do things unless she wants to. They will need to learn her 'look' when she doesn't want to be bothered. She does responds well when bribed with treats. ?? Nola would not be good with any age child! She loves other animals but won't interact/play with them. She is crate and potty trained. (Less)

Our adoption fees include a grooming with nail trim - all vaccines - deworming - a complete health check - a HW test if old enough - microchip - rabies - spay/neuter - and a PetSmart adoption starter kit that includes $5 off a six-month supply of HW preventative - a free %BD-hour private training session with a PetSmart accredited pet trainer - a free bag of food - a free doggie day camp session - a free overnight stay in a PetSmart PetsHotel - a free vet ... (Read More)exam at Banfield - grooming coupons - over $400 of coupons/savings - and MUCH MORE! We have a two-step adoption process. First, you submit an application, which is presented to our Board for approval or rejection. If approved, a home check is done, and if that passes - you adopt which includes a 1-week trial period, if - for any reason during that first week, the adoption is not working out, you can return the dog for a full refund of your adoption fee. ))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))PS - WE NEED FOSTER HOMES FOR ANIMALS! Fosters are the backbone of animal rescue. In most EVERY shelter - in most EVERY county - in most EVERY city - animals r being euthanized (KILLED) daily due to overcrowding - dog - cat - large - small - male - female - puppy - kitten - old - young. We cannot save them without foster homes. APPROXIMATELY ONE OUT OF THREE ANIMALS THAT ENTER A SHELTER IS EUTHANIZED. These healthy sweet pets would have made great companions. Don't know what fostering is? Briefly - it is babysitting an animal until it is adopted. FOSTERING IS FREE TO DO! Most rescues cover all expenses for fosters, and anything they do not cover is tax-deductible. If u cannot foster - please ask your friends and family to. If u want more information - Google 'animal fostering.' I'm begging - it's only temporary but lives can't be saved unless people step up - PLEASE - shelters are overflowing - when you foster one animal - you save two lives - the one you foster and the one that gets his/her space in the shelter. In return for your kind donation, you will receive a periodic update on the progress of your foster. Donate money, our rescue is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit, all donations are tax deductible. Educate - spread the word about the need for fosters. Sign up for notifications from your local rescue group or shelter, and share the animals in need on social media, there are so many ways to help - thank you, please share this post (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Schnauzer in Texas
Schnauzer Dogs can make good pets in Texas if they match your IifestyIe. The Schnauzer is a thickly bearded, medium sized, Terrier type dog. Schnauzers are proud, vivacious animals. Schnauzers are protective toward their people and want to be the boss. It is important to thoroughly socialize and train a Schnauzer when it is a puppy. Schnauzers do fine with older kids. A Schnauzer needs lots and lots of exercise and a daily walk but can live in an apartment if its exercise needs are met.
