Rescue Me ID: 16-06-24-00044RainBow (male)
RainBow is a playful, affectionate, energetic young Parti Schnauzer (19 months old). He came to me from a situation in which he was traumatized by young children in the home. As a result of trauma, he displays fear aggression toward kids, and must be protected and completely isolated from them. He is also anxious/reactive and vocal around strangers, but is a complete love once he is familiar with someone. He is bouncy, playful, snuggly (on his own terms!), high-energy and very talkative, and he loves attention and affection once he feels secure. He also loves the company of other small dogs who are high-energy and like to play. He is very smart and highly trainable. I love him dearly, but my life doesn't fit his needs right now, and I want him to thrive. RainBow needs a home with: -- experienced schnauzer owner(s) familiar with the breed & breed-specific behaviors -- a stable, peaceful energy without frequent visitors or overstimulation -- a secured outside space (fenced yard) where he can run and play and explore off-leash -- another young small dog, with whom he can bond and play and explore -- an environment that is completely child-free with very few exceptions (he can be crated on occasions that children may visit, but this should not be a regular occurrence) -- ideally, a home where the owners are around a lot and can provide discipline/structure, exercise/adventure, love/affection, and additional training if necessary He would do best in a home without: -- frequent visitors -- owners who travel & leave the dogs in the care of others frequently (he loves road trips!) -- cats (he becomes excessively excited and is prone to chasing and barking at them) -- large dogs (He loves all dogs, but is insecure around bigger ones and tends to be vocally annoying with them.) |Rescue Me ID: 16-06-05-00171Lenny (male)|
These adorable pups were born about February 26, 2016 and we are told the parents weighed 35 lbs. max. We do have rough photos of the parents and one is white with black ears and the other is black and Schnauzer'ish. However, we are wondering if maybe there wasn't another dog sneaking around because four of the pups are black & tan so with that thought we are a bit worried that there could have been more than one father for this litter. Yes, that does happen. We just want to stress that these pups 'may' get larger than our perceived size. If you are looking for a particular size please do not apply for these pups as we don't want them thrown away in early adulthood because they got too big. Yes, that happens more than you could imagine. These pups are extremely social, happy, loving, fun and funny - just adorable! Lenny's size seems to be in the middle, some are smaller, some are larger. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-11-00144Gucci (male)
Gucci is a super cute and mellow 8 year old 20 lbs Schnoodle mix. He is housetrained, pretty good on leash and likes to putter around in the yard. He also likes to just snuggle up to you. Gucci can be an only dog but he likes other dogs. Since he's a mature guy he would do best with a furry companion who is 3+ years old male or female. No annoying puppies or young toddlers for this guy. He is neutered, up to date on shots and microchipped. His adoption fee is $250. We require a fenced yard not electric fence.

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-05-00172Peanut (male)
Peanut is a devoted companion, but has issues with outside humans or pets. He knows all basic obedience commands. He is a bit of a lap dog, but not a nudge.

Rescue Me ID: 16-03-16-00203Wilson (male)
Wilson is a 35 pound, 1 year old pitbull mix who is friendly and energetic. He needs an active family that can give him training and exercise. Wilson is house trained and crate trained, he sits on command and is smart enough to learn a lot more. He's neutered, vaccinated, and just needs to learn some house manners to be a great companion. We recommend no children under age 10 due to his energy level. Wilson is being fostered in Burlington VT.

Schnauzer Dogs can make good pets in New York if they match your IifestyIe. The Schnauzer is a thickly bearded, medium sized, Terrier type dog. Schnauzers are proud, vivacious animals. Schnauzers are protective toward their people and want to be the boss. It is important to thoroughly socialize and train a Schnauzer when it is a puppy. Schnauzers do fine with older kids. A Schnauzer needs lots and lots of exercise and a daily walk but can live in an apartment if its exercise needs are met.
