|Rescue Me ID: 15-03-19-00281Otto (male)|
Otto is a 12-year-old purebred miniature Schnauzer who belonged to an elderly woman who recently passed away. His owner was incapable of of spontaneous speech due to stroke, so Otto does not understand many verbal commands. He was consummately devoted to his owner, but was very affectionate to occasional visitors. The optimum situation for Otto would be in a home with an adult female owner who would have the time to provide daily walks and affection. We would not recommend that Otto live in a household with other dogs or with children. Due to his advanced age, Otto can be a bit stiff upon first standing in the morning, but quickly bounds out of the house to do his business. He is still lightening fast on his feet, and he is a vigilant watch dog immediately alerting the household to anyone approaching the house. Otto has a fatty tumor on his underside, but seems in good health for a dog his age. Nevertheless, Otto has not been evaluated by his veterinarian in the past year and is in need of regular vaccinations and heart worm testing. Because the home in which Otto has lived his entire life is about to be sold, and the son of Otto's owner relocating with his own large dog to another state, we hope to find a caring, nurturing home for Otto so that he does not have to be euthanized. For his own protection, Otto is now available only through Schnauzer Love Rescue. (Less)

|Rescue Me ID: 15-02-27-00002Papi (male)|
Papi was surrendered by a woman who came to a vet to euthanize him. Papi is a about 4 years old littler 20 lbs Terrier/Schnauzer Mix. He was extremely flea infested and reacted with fella dermatitis. A simple fix are: getting rid of the fleas, a steroid treatment and maybe a medicated bath every once in a while and the hair will fully grow back. The veterinarian explained that the dog is not sick and just need some medication which would cost $ 4 a month... but the lady refused the treatment, saying that her son left the dog at her house and she doesn't want him there anyway... Thank god she agreed to surrender him to us after the doctor was begin her. Papi is a very sweet and gentle little fella... he is great with other dogs and cats and now realizes how good it feels to be loved and snuggled.... He deserves a forever home and a family that loves him. (Less)

Schnauzer Dogs can make good pets in Georgia if they match your IifestyIe. The Schnauzer is a thickly bearded, medium sized, Terrier type dog. Schnauzers are proud, vivacious animals. Schnauzers are protective toward their people and want to be the boss. It is important to thoroughly socialize and train a Schnauzer when it is a puppy. Schnauzers do fine with older kids. A Schnauzer needs lots and lots of exercise and a daily walk but can live in an apartment if its exercise needs are met.
