Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament

Hi! I'm Shaggy Bananas. I'm a spunky little 15lbs Schnauzer-Poodle whose birthday is in 2015. Playing with toys and other dogs are my favorite. I am a little unsure of certain situations (ie meeting new pups and even interacting with humans) and I get overly excited, seemingly anxious. This could be caused by my previous life where I was bounced around so many times in my short 3 years of life. I do settle after a bit and need reassurance that things will be all right. But my crate I've learned is a great place to hang out and sleep but I do love to cuddle up on the couch. Kids are fun to play with so I could do well in a family ... If anyone would like to give this adorable pup a forever home, please download an application through: PAWPATROLANIMALRESCUE.COM All who wish to adopt from PPARAS MUST fill out an application. Animal ID: 18-069Rosie (female)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Adult

Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Rosie is a 6 year old Yorkie/Schnauzer mix (a Snorkie!). Rosie weighs 13.2 lbs and is being fostered in Orlando, FL. UPDATED BIO 04/02/2018: Rosie has been in her foster home for a couple of days now. Her previous owner surrendered her to Animal Control for unknown reasons. She visited the vet today and they determined that she does have limited vision, but there is so much hyper-pigmentation covering her eyes, it is hard to tell what she can or cannot see. Her eyes are severely dry and she will need to have RX eye-drops in her eyes several times a day for the rest of her life. It is possible that her vision may be improved somewhat after a ... (Read More)couple of weeks of eye-drops, but that hasn't been determined yet. It was also determined that sweet Rosie also had bilateral ear infections, but that certainly doesn't change the fact that she is a real sweetheart and very playful. Here's what Rosie had to say the day she was rescued: Rosie here. My previous owner gave me up to Animal Control - I don't know what I did that was wrong. I thought I was always a good girl. The people at Animal Control said I was a very sweet girl. Anyway, I am so grateful to the nice lady from UYR for rescuing me. I think she's called my foster mom, but I'll call her my angel mom for now. She brought me to her house and took me to her huge backyard. It's there that I met my new fur-sister, Leia. We're going to become good friends, I just know it. My foster mom fed me some really good food, then showed me where the water bowl is. You see, I don't see very well (pun intended). There's something wrong with my eyes. I'll know more when my foster mom takes me to her vet on Monday. Don't worry, my visual impairment does not negatively affect me. I listen to my foster mom's voice and just follow it. Easy, peasy! I'm current on my vaccinations and I'm spayed. I'm house-trained, I walk well on a leash and I'm also crate trained. Aren't I smart? I love to be petted and scratched behind my ears. I love to cuddle with my foster mom. She says I AM a good girl and I believe her. I would love to be your little girl. I like people and other dogs. My foster mom hasn't seen me interact with children or cats yet. I would like to be in a loving home with a mom/dad who is retired or works from home. I would like to have one stay-at-home parent since I don't like to be left alone for long periods due to my visual impairment. If you are reading about how smart and loving I am, maybe you could be my new forever home? You won't be disappointed. (Less)

Frosty is fostered in Clearwater, FL (Pinellas County). We are a foster-based rescue and always looking for foster families! Frosty is a sweet little senior schnauzer mix (we also see some other terrier and chihuahua) at 10 years young and 15 lbs. She takes a few days to warm up, but once she is bonded she wants nothing but to follow your shadow, sleep in a nice comfy bed next to your couch, and nudge your hand for gentle pets. She will be happiest in a quiet home with someone willing to show her slow, gentle, and confident affection. Being timid and defensive around fast movement and noises, we would not recommend children in the household. ... (Read More)She doesn't mind dogs but would rather live in an one dog house. She does seem to love cats and will perk up and wag when one walks past. She has shown some mild resource guarding behavior towards other animals when she is around her human, and it is something that she responds quickly to correction, but will be an ongoing training opportunity in her new home. She is fully house-trained but does need to take her time out in the yard. She loves easy walks and sniffing everything in the world around her! Frosty is a simple, sweet old gal looking for a forever home to lay her head. She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and preventatives, has had a recent dental, is microchipped, and heartworm negative. Her standard adoption donation is $250; however, she can be adopted by a senior citizen 65+ for $150 through our Seniors for Seniors program. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Schnauzer in Florida
Schnauzer Dogs can make good pets in Florida if they match your IifestyIe. The Schnauzer is a thickly bearded, medium sized, Terrier type dog. Schnauzers are proud, vivacious animals. Schnauzers are protective toward their people and want to be the boss. It is important to thoroughly socialize and train a Schnauzer when it is a puppy. Schnauzers do fine with older kids. A Schnauzer needs lots and lots of exercise and a daily walk but can live in an apartment if its exercise needs are met.

The name Schnauzer is derived from the German word for snout; these dogs are named for their distinctive beards. Schnauzers have been used to guard children and have been called Kinder Watchers.
