It's puppy time! Say hello to precious Boomer, a 4 month old Schnauzer mix who weighs 10 pounds. He was found as a stray with his brother Bubba H, and brought to a local shelter. We sprung them and now we're looking for their forever homes. Boomer is great with other dogs and children, but has not been tested with cats. He is doing very well with housebreaking and his foster dad says when he has to go outside he'll stand at the door and make little panting noises to let him know. He has fun playing with his brother and they love to lay on top of each other on the couch. Boomer's adoption fee will include his neuter (at our vet) when ... (Read More)he is old enough. He is up to date on age appropriate vaccinations and any other vaccines will be the responsibility of his new family. Boomer is also microchipped. If you'd like to make Boomer a part of your family, please submit an application for this cutie. (Less)

Animal ID: 18-024Jasper (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Sweet Jasper Doolittle is a 3-1/2 year old, 15 pound Maltese/Miniature Schnauzer mix! He is being fostered in Odessa, FL. UPDATED BIO 02/18/2017: . Jasper is a 'rare' Maltese/Miniature Schnauzer Mix, referred to as a Malzer. Like the Yorkshire Terrier, the Malzer is known for their cute looks and funny disposition. Jasper has been in his foster home for a little over a week now and is doing amazingly well. His foster parents love him and he loves them back as well. He continues to be playful and loving. His parents think he is such a sweetheart as he always rolls over for belly rubs when approached. Sweet. Jasper is totally house-trained ... (Read More)and will soon have his vaccinations updated and will be neutered. Jasper's perfect home would have a fenced-in yard, but this is not a deal breaker, just something that would be ideal for him to run and play and get out all his puppy energy. Because he is such a young and active little boy, the perfect home would be one that is very active, and include children 8-10 years old or older for playmates. Jasper would be okay as an only dog, but perhaps another dog close to his age and size would be wonderful to have for a doggie companion. Jasper's foster mom feels that he wouldn't do well in a home where he was left alone for over 3-4 hours, so please take this into consideration if you apply to adopt this preciouS boy. INITIAL BIO 02/09/2018: Jasper Doolittle just came into rescue today. He was surrendered by his owner who was no longer able to care for him. Jasper is a 'rare' Maltese/Miniature Schnauzer Mix, referred to as a Malzer. Like the Yorkshire Terrier, the Malzer is known for their cute looks and funny disposition. They are docile, playful and loving. Jasper is a very sweet, adorable and happy boy who will make a lovely family dog for the right family. He rode well in the car while riding to his new foster home. By the way, his foster parents fell in love with him immediately. Jasper's surrendering owner said that he is totally house-trained - what a smart boy! He will be seen by the vet soon to have his vaccinations updated and will then be scheduled for a neuter and potentially a dental. After that, he will be ready to go to his forever home. Please check back soon for updates on this handsome boy. (Less)

Animal ID: FrancineFreckles (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Look at this handsome boy named Freckles. He is a Maltese/Schnauzer mix who is 5 years old and weighs about 9 pounds. Freckles and his brother Fred were owner surrendered to a local shelter. They were both terrified in that environment and wouldn't let anyone near them. They gave us a call and our President and VP went down and sat with them (with gloves on and a blanket), in hopes of calming them down enough to be able to give them their freedom ride. It was quite a struggle, but they didn't give up on them because they knew it was simply fear aggression. Sure enough, once they were out of that environment, their true and wonderful ... (Read More)personalities started to shine through and there is no aggression. Freckles is great with other dogs, housebroken, and microchipped. He has not been tested with children, or cats. He is a very sweet and lovable boy. Freckles has his bags packed and is waiting for you to fill out an application and come to take home to start his new life. (Less)

Animal ID: BONDED PAIRLulu and Frankie (female)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello! We are Lulu (black and white) and Frankie (Brown wire-haired), an extremely loving bonded pair. We are about 5 years old, both females and spayed. We love going on walks together and spend most of our day lounging and cuddling. We love attention and being pet. We get along with all types of people from large adults to small children. Our current foster family has cats who we are getting used to but still a little confused by their weird bark. We don't mind meeting dogs either but can be shy at first. Mostly we love attention and tummy rubs from humans. Our foster mom found us after somebody left us down in Homestead. We waited over ... (Read More)1 month but our family never came back. Our foster parents couldn't believe how easily we acclimated to our luxurious indoor life. We much prefer it to the outdoor heat! Especially since our favorite past time is burrowing into blankets with each other and taking a long nap. We enjoy car rides and often try to sit on our foster parents laps because we cannot get enough of humans! When Frankie is excited she likes to put her two front feet up like a meerkat and I like to bounce around like a bunny, especially when we hear 'Wanna go for a walk?' We are hoping to find our forever home and think we would be fantastic for anyone looking for low maintenance companions. See for yourself and come meet us- we love visitors! (Less)

Schnauzers are protective toward their people and want to be the boss. It is important to thoroughly socialize and train a Schnauzer when it is a puppy. Schnauzers do fine with older kids. A Schnauzer needs lots and lots of exercise and a daily walk but can live in an apartment if its exercise needs are met.
