Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: High Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Vaccinations Current

Name: Mia Gender: Female Breed: Glen of Imaal terrier mix Age: approx 2 years old Weight: about 18 pounds Great with other dogs of all sizes, very maternal attitude because of her past Great with everyone, including kids Has never bit, growled, snapped, showed any aggression whatsoever Extremely submissive and may have been hit before. Example: if you put your hand up and point your finger at her in disapproval she cowers She is definitely a people pleaser Gives kisses, snuggles, very affectionate Potty trained when a consistent routine is established Good on the leash Barks only to alert when she hears someone at the door or a ... (Read More)strange noise Loves loves loves food and treats. Can never get enough! Great appetite Loves exercise and has tons of energy. Runs fast and can be active if need be Afraid of fireworks (found that out on 4th of July... She was very anxious and scared) Perfect for any household About: Mama Mia was rescued from Tijuana, Mexico - the worst place to be at, especially if you are a homeless dog! Surrounded by other animals that have been left to die with sickening injuries, malnourishment, mange etc, Mia was fighting to survive, and to top it all off she was pregnant! I was notified about her through a Good Samaritan and that's when my rescue decided to save and bring her to California. A couple of days before transport, Mia went missing and was no where to be found. Luckily she was located and soon after gave birth to seven beautiful babies. The entire family made it across the border safely. Everything was going well until Mia tested positive for erliqia, a disease given to dogs through ticks. She had over 500 on her so that explained a lot. She received intensive treatment and everything was back to being good. Her puppies were over a month old. Then the unexpected happened, her poor babies started getting severely sick one by one. Long story short none of them made it. They all tested positive and died to canine distemper. Mia was exposed but has not shown any illness. She is a very happy go lucky girl that loves running around nonstop in excitement, treats, and just food in general. Her favorite part of every day is feeding time, probably because food was scarce back in Mexico. In conclusion, Mia has been through hell and back. Her life started off in a terrible place, she lost all of her precious babies, and she came close to death herself. She needs a chance at a new life, one filled with lots of love and care. Never again should she go through what she did! Schnauzer    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

This adorable little gremlin is a 9 lb, 7 year old mini schnauzer - yes , you read correctly, 9 lbs. He is listed on his paperwork as a toy schnauzer but we know that officially, there is no such thing. He is in excellent health and boy, does he have a lot of spunk! He has a strong prey drive so if you have small animals or birds, this would not be the dog for you. He would most likely make a great watch dog but if someone comes into the home he is immediately their friend (just don't let the burglar know that - lol) He is very friendly, loving and a great all around companion.     Jane Doe is a terrier / schnauzer mix, 4 yrs old and weighs about 9 lbs. She is super sweet and mellow for a terrier. Her owner left her tied to a fence in front of one of our Foster's homes with a note that said he had cancer, was dying and could no longer take care of his dogs. He didn't have the heart to take them to the shelter where they might have been put down. Her buddy is a Chihuahua named John Doe. They are best friends but can be adopted separately. PIease Read Before Adopting a Schnauzer in California
Schnauzer Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Schnauzer is a thickly bearded, medium sized, Terrier type dog. Schnauzers are proud, vivacious animals. Schnauzers are protective toward their people and want to be the boss. It is important to thoroughly socialize and train a Schnauzer when it is a puppy. Schnauzers do fine with older kids. A Schnauzer needs lots and lots of exercise and a daily walk but can live in an apartment if its exercise needs are met.

lnteresting Schnauzer Trivia Low-Cost California Spay & Neuter Clinics
The name Schnauzer is derived from the German word for snout; these dogs are named for their distinctive beards. Schnauzers have been used to guard children and have been called Kinder Watchers. Rembrandt owned and painted a Schnauzer. Schnauzers used to travel with German coaches. Schnauzers were used as messenger dogs in World War I.
