Rescue Me ID: 17-08-14-00364Moe (male)

Schnauzer    Age: Senior

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Not Good with Cats
Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

We rescued Moe a little over a year ago. He was in a pretty bad situation. He was in a home that did not bother to treat his allergic reaction. He scratched for so long it turned into a bacterial infection and a yeast infection. He was a sticky, stinky, hairless mess. Took him to several vet appointments in the first six months and he has now been free from reactions in that time. Some facts about Moe: Purebred Mini Schnauzer. He is fixed. Around 10 years old. up to date on all shots. Allergic to corn and grains. He is selective on which cats he likes. He does well on a leash. He hs fascinated with our hamster. He does well without ... (Read More)a leash, He will wander away if you are not watching. He loves little stuffed toys, will not destuff them. He loves his dog bed. Crate trained. He is also semi good with kids, I have a 4,5, and 8yo. My kids know to back up if Moe growls and it ends there. If a child does not know how to back off when Moe warns them this is the wrong dog for you. He will come with his new crate. It folds up and is fabric, was about 60$ a couple weeks ago. He will come with a leash, his collar and harness. We recently moved from a 2500sf house with a massive yard. It was unplanned and unexpected but life happened. He needs to have a slower paced life and a yard again. We are in 500sf with five people and no yard. It is unfair to him to lose the luxuries of having what we no longer have. We initially got Moe to heal his skin and find him a home later on, we kept him a little longer than planned since we had the space. It is time for him to retire. I am asking for $100 for Moe to make sure he will go to someone who will hopefully give him a great home. I will have a list of questions to potential adopters. Please don't message and inquire if you have not talked to everyone in your family. I have gone through 5 almost meetings to have them back out because they never bothered to talk to their spouse/parents. (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Schnauzer in California
Schnauzer Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Schnauzer is a thickly bearded, medium sized, Terrier type dog. Schnauzers are proud, vivacious animals. Schnauzers are protective toward their people and want to be the boss. It is important to thoroughly socialize and train a Schnauzer when it is a puppy. Schnauzers do fine with older kids. A Schnauzer needs lots and lots of exercise and a daily walk but can live in an apartment if its exercise needs are met.
