Rescue Me ID: 17-05-28-00136Sidney (male)

Schnauzer Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Please read dog's entire written bio before contacting rescue. To inquire about this dog, you do not need to press any special buttons on this website. Send a regular e-mail to Janet Cook at: Please provide some information about your home, family and other pets. Angel's Heart Dog Rescue is a private, foster home based rescue. Though there are some steps that precede meeting a dog, they are quick and expeditious. Thank you! SEE VIDEO ALSO ON THIS PAGE! Sidney is a 3-year-old male West Highland Terrier/Schnauzer mix rescued from the Devore Shelter. He is mostly cream colored, with some tan markings ... (Read More)throughout his coat. He is a low shedding dog, and may even be hypoallergenic. He is basically wash and wear, with maybe some brushing now and then and some clipping around his eyes so he can see, but eventually, his coat can get longer so a professional grooming can occur very occasionally. Though Sidney is a wire-haired terrier, his coat is quite soft. He is one of those cute, shaggy dogs! He is a GREAT size; he is technically a small dog, but has a medium-sized dog feel. He weighs around 22 lbs. Sidney is good natured, sweet and loving, and loves to hang with his people. He is a Velcro dog, but can also go off to explore and play (with another dog). He enjoys various toys, and can play with an array of toys by himself, but ultimately loves playing and exploring with the other dogs, chase, wrestling, and tug-of-war. He can play ball with the humans too (he knows how to retrieve the ball and bring it back to you!). Sidney has been exposed to multiple dogs, big and small, and does well. He can even be a playmate to a larger dog, as long as that dog knows how to be nice to smaller dogs. He is well crate-trained (at the rescue, dogs are crated to eat, sleep, and if I have to leave) however, at this point, Sidney is left loose in the house if I am gone. A crate should be used during a transitional phase in an adoption. After an adjustment period, he can be left loose with the other dog inside the home, or with outdoor access by way of a dog door, as long as the fencing is secure (he cannot be excluded to the outdoors only). Sidney rides well in the car, walks well on the leash, is not destructive in the house, but does have some traits inherent to terriers. He is responsive to instruction (he seeks to please his person), is potty-trained, (however potty reinforcement is needed in any new environment) and masters the dog door. He does best with some structure, seeking direction from his leaders. He can be a bit nervous when meeting strangers, but warms up quickly with a toy or a treat. He gets a lot of his needs met by being with the other dogs here at the rescue; he is a more active, fun type that loves to play, run around the yard and explore, chase birds and lizards, but can also lie around the house and chill like any dog. The home we seek for Sidney has another dog social and welcoming dog who also enjoys playing, but mainly, a dog that likes other dogs and likes Sidney too, as well as people who are not collectively gone for long, extended hours on a daily basis. Sidney seems to need the play outlet and brain stimulation and companionship of a steady canine pal. Some semblance of a yard is a must. An appropriate sized wire crate (purchased or borrowed) will be required for Sidney's adoption to help support the transitional period to a brand new setting, mainly, when folks are away from home, during the initial stages. Sidney is neutered, fully vaccinated (including rabies), Front-lined, dewormed, and micro-chipped. If you are interested in Sidney, please contact Angel's Heart Dog Rescue at: The phone number to the rescue is: 626-340-9316. There is no need to phone the rescue until you have first submitted an interest via e-mail. Please visit my website at: and go to the Adoption Tab to read about the adoption process and fees; thank you! (Less)

Hi! I'm Gwen! I'm a 5-month old miniature Schnauzer/terrier mix puppy. I was saved from euthanasia at a vet's office by my former owner because they were not allowed to have pets at her apartment. I love kids I can't wait to give them smooches and say hi when I see one. I also love to play with both large and small dogs. My foster mom says that I'm just a cutie that really loves to cuddle. I'm a very smart girl, and figured out how to use the doggie door in 24 hours after arriving to my foster home. I'm looking for a loving home where I can learn new things and have wonderful adventures! Will that be you?

Personality: Low Energy
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Luna is a 8-9 year old Schnauzer mix who is looking for her perfect forever home! Luna was found in really bad shape on an empty lot in Cancun, MX. The security guards were feeding her scraps but she was skin and bones. They told her rescuers she hadn't eaten in 4 days and probably would not make it. Her hair was very matted so they had to shave it all off. Surprisingly, her teeth were in great shape! She is slowly learning how to play, as no one has ever played with her before. She still doesn't understand the concept of the ball but is slowly starting to get more curious about toys. She LOVES going on walks. You pull out the leash and she ... She follows her foster dad around the house all day. She just wants to be close to her humans all day long. She can get feisty sometimes when strangers come to the door. She just barks and growls, but never bites. Luna would do best in a home with another dog or alone, but not with small children. Luna is up-to-date on vaccines, spayed, and her adoption fee is $200. Schnauzer Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Low Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Los Angeles or Orange County area only in California. No out of state. Meet Daisi, we pulled her from the Carson shelter where she was owner surrendered. We were told that she is 6 years old and she currently weighs 12lbs. She came in with another dog currently available for adoption named Benji. They do not have to go together. Daisi is a very sweet, quiet dog. She really loves to be held, pet, loved on and receive attention from her human. She is also quite active as she loves to go for walks and get outside and go places with you. She was a little bit of a dirty mess when she came in, however after several medicated baths and ... (Read More)some better quality food her coat is much much better. If her eyes could talk we think they would tell us that she has been a lonely little girl for a while. She is starting to come out of her shell and will climb in our laps for some love. Everyday her tail wags just a little bit more. She keeps to herself and would probably prefer a home with out all the commotion of little kids. She would be an excellent companion for an active Senior person. She will just hang out with you and keep you company. She prefers a home as an only dog. She is fostered with another dog however she wants all the attention and would really prefer to be the one and only dog in the home. She can be a lap guarder and possessive of her things and space. Daisi had her right eye removed after she lost her sight to a cataract and developed dry eye, we thought it best to remove the eye. Her other eye has very good vision with no problems. (posted 5/26/17) Daisi is kenneled at our facility and can be seen at the Animals Rule Saturday adoption event from 11am - 3pm at Creative Pet Supply -305 North Harbor Blvd. San Pedro, CA 90731. Please submit an application of interest first and read our adoption process link. Please do not call the Pet Supply Store. PIease Read Before Adopting a Schnauzer in California
Schnauzer Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Schnauzer is a thickly bearded, medium sized, Terrier type dog. Schnauzers are proud, vivacious animals. Schnauzers are protective toward their people and want to be the boss. It is important to thoroughly socialize and train a Schnauzer when it is a puppy. Schnauzers do fine with older kids. A Schnauzer needs lots and lots of exercise and a daily walk but can live in an apartment if its exercise needs are met.
