Rescue Me ID: 14-09-18-00581Jenny (female)

Schnauzer    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Low Energy, Very Submissive
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

This is one of our puppy mill dogs, the first to be added for adoption. (see our fb page). Jenny is so shut down; she just lays or sits and is very quiet and calm. She does occasionally wag her tail. Jenny needs an extremely patient home with someone who can take training very slowly and appreciate every little bit of progress. These puppy mill dogs will most likely take months or years to make progress; they do not know human touch and love. Jenny has little to no emotion right now, except for sadness - you can see it in her eyes. To her, the world is a painful place where you are in constant discomfort Jenny was pictured on our fb ... (Read More)page with the ear canals that were totally swollen shut because of infection. Her uterus was so filled with scar tissue from past pregnancies that it had adhered to her colon and of course, she had a raging uterine infection. Jenny is about 4 to 5 years old and is fully vetted and healthy now. We would prefer a home with Schnauzer experience and someone who has the time and patience to see this dog through. No children, large dogs, cats - no exceptions. Please only apply unless you plan on a life long commitment with no reservations. Visit resqac.com for more info and pics. (Less)

Button is a 10 to 12 month old Schnoodle (schnauzer/poodle mix). Button spent over a month living on the streets fending for himself before we took him in. It took us weeks to caught him cause he was so scared of people. He is now a cuddle bug with people he knows and trust. Button would do best in a home with children over the age of 15 and needs to be with submissive dogs as he can be dominant. He is food and toy aggressive, so he should be fed away from other pets and there needs to be two of every toy if he lives with another dog. Button knows how to use a dog door, he is house trained, crate trained and leash trained. Button is also raw ...     'Scruff-a-luff' Schnauzer Mix female/spayed, 7 yrs old, 21 lbs Scruff-a-luff was rescued by one of our volunteers from a local San Diego shelter where she wasn't doing very well. She was shy with the staff and preferred to stay in her crate most of the day. We think she is a 6-8 year old, schnauzer/terrier mix who is approximately 30-35 pounds. Since moving in with her foster family, she has really come out of her shell. She loves to play in her yard with her foster brothers and sisters. She runs excitedly to the door the moment the leash and harness comes out. Scruff loves her walks almost as much as she loves cuddling and car ... (Read More)rides. When she's not busy exploring her yard or riding shot gun, you can find her resting at your feet and protecting her family. Her foster mommy thinks she is the smartest dog she has ever met! She squeezed through the fence in her back yard and was last seen several miles from her brand new foster home and managed to come back that very same night on her own, after only having spent one night in her new home with no walks...a true genius! Her foster mommy jokes and says that her Scruff is smarter than she is! She is perfect off leash, has never had an accident in the house and knows all of the basic doggy commands (sit, lay down, heal and high five). Scruff is still a little scared of strangers and requires some time before she will fully trust you. She will shrink back and flinch if you come at her too fast. She will do best in a home with adults or older children who are respectful of her abused past. Scruff will do beautifully as an only dog or as a companion to an existing dog (not a thunder stealer) If you are willing to open your home and your heart, you will get an extremely intelligent and loyal companion for life in Scruff! Give her l second chance and you will not regret it! (Less)

PIease Read Before Adopting a Schnauzer in California
Schnauzer Dogs can make good pets in California if they match your IifestyIe. The Schnauzer is a thickly bearded, medium sized, Terrier type dog. Schnauzers are proud, vivacious animals. Schnauzers are protective toward their people and want to be the boss. It is important to thoroughly socialize and train a Schnauzer when it is a puppy. Schnauzers do fine with older kids. A Schnauzer needs lots and lots of exercise and a daily walk but can live in an apartment if its exercise needs are met.
